GRC Hayes Levers
June 5, 2003
Special to Transcend: Chris Hanna
Tired of your current stock Hayes levers? Have you upgraded
everything else on your bike but the levers? Well, GRC
makes some of the nicest aftermarket levers for your hayes brakes.

John Sullivan founded GRC Components in 1999. John, or
Sulley, his commonly used name wanted to make parts that
were not available as crash replacement parts. Today, GRC
makes more than just levers. They do fork crowns, brake rotors,
and seat collars, all of which are made in the USA.
Sulley sent us a pair of his DHF levers to try out
for a couple months. I have now had them for a little more
than 5 months of brutal testing. They have survived
the mud, rain, dirt, rocks, and roots of northern
California. Downhill and dual slalom races, late nights at
the bmx track, and lots of crashes included. These levers will
survive anything.
The DHF’s fit my hands perfectly. I like to use 1 finger and
run my brakes further in so that my finger rests on the
bend. The edges are smooth and didn’t dig into my fingers
making these levers comfortable for even the steepest and
longest descents.
Not many people ever think about upgrading their levers.
Once you do, everything changes and you will never go back.
GRC also offers the Shorty, which is a shorter version of
the DHF.
The bottom line is that these levers have transformed my
bike. Having more comfortable hands improves how you ride a
lot. If you have not checked out their levers, visit
http://www.grcomponents.com now and order up a pair!
