VERNON, New Jersey (transcendmagazine.com) -- Brendan Fairclough bested teammate Sam Hill and gated racing legend Brian Lopes to take home the win in the inaugural US Open Giant Slalom.
More of a small downhill event featuring only jumps and berms, the GS course at Diablo winds it's way just under 40 seconds through the trees next to the downhill finish.
A best of 2 run event, Fairclough put down his winning run of 39.93 seconds in his first run, and no one could touch it as the rain started to fall during second runs.
Jill Kintner took home the women's event, also on her first run. Melissa Buhl was second and Kathy Pruitt was third.
