Last weekend was the First race of the year and the first time the old DH bikes seen dirt since October.
Vancouver Island has a spring series every year and there a great way to warm up and fine tune all the bugs before the season starts. This first race was held in Cumberland just down the hill from Mt Washington. And ya its true what they say about Cumberland.
Coneazy, my sidekick in crime and I Loaded the rigs up Friday afternoon and headed off the the ferries. While waiting in the lineup we decided to tear up the ferrie terminal and gardens with our cutties, wall rides, stair gaps and good humor.
We embarked on the 5pm which is a hour and a half ride to Nanimo, so plenty of time to peep the scene on the ferrie and shoot the shit if ya know what im sayin. We arived in Nanimo and rolled up to the the Best Mexican Restrant ever "GINAS" for a little bromance. After that the Chans masion which holds the Legend, who is Mike Chan, the godfather of DH and former Master World Champion. The Sexyest man around "STEVE CHAN" former Junior National Champ and now GQ model and my Mom away from mom Jeniffer.
Our Long time lover Chris "The Fish Man" Fisher rolled up later in his Ram charger after gettin lost in a reserve then we headed out to the Catus Club for some bromance and broad peepin.
Saturday morning was practice day 1 or so we thought... Our model had to bail on day 1 case he was catching some tasty waves in Sooke with his fello bras dude, but we managed without such a beautiful man and set off to Cumberland and pumped the Raido One Essential mixs.
We got to the race and the bloody gate was locked so we couldent shuttle the course so we had to hike the 2 and a bit minute DH corse but it was well worth it. The course started a the top of a clear cut with romantic vista vews of the sunshine coast and Ocean where we saw some mexican skin divers spering Mahi Mahi.
The course flowed down the pedaly clearcut into the Fort William stepdown followed up with amazing cuttie berms then it shot you into the dark woods of Schladming where there was pinned out rockgardens and more and more amazing hero dirt berms... SO GOOD!!!
We only did 2 runs casue the hike was a wee little bitch but 2 more runs on race day and will have it dialed!!!
We rolled back to Nanimo to enjoy the finest in Island dining complements of the "Legend" then rolled out later for some cheeky ones at pearl harbor's dog emporium.
Sunday Morning we all enjoyed a fine Chan man skillit complements again by the one and only "The Legend" who is the sweetest man around. The Brozy Bra program was in full effect on the way down to the race with a hour of Essential Mix to get the blood flowing.
The Shuttle cube vans were out, thank god, but only let us off about halfway up because of all the snow. So more hiking but it got you all warmed up by the time u got to the top of the Cumberland course. 2 more practice runs and we had the course dialed!! While waiting for the race to start we hit up the old Gas and Dash for some bike wash and brozy bra action and dance party essential mixes.
Everyone had a Good Run and a ton of fun this weekend, the course was aweome and the weather was perfect.
We hung around the pits after for some wack humor and laughs but had to bounce befor we heard the results but Simion "Bubbles" Garston wrang us up and told us the ok news....
