SCHLADMING, Austria (transcendmagazine.com) -- It is course walking day here in Austria. Slightly cloudy now but nice temperatures and it was super sunny earlier this morning.
The town of Schladming is fantastic. great food, great beer and very friendly people. The town centre has some awesome character and lots of cool shops and restaurants to eat in.
The course has been finalized and it is 2200m long and drops about 600m over that length. Lots of roots, rocks and berms with some high speed off camber grass thrown in to boot.
Weather for the week is supposed to be nice up until friday/saturday. Some reports have it raining, some reports have it snowing, we shall see what happens as we are in the mountains and anything goes.
Look for some interviews and a finals teaser up this afternoon from freecaster. This weekend will be epic with points for both the men's and women's finals being very tight. It truly is anyone's race as the only one locked up is womens 4x (Anneke Beerten is the winner).
Cedric Gracia will only be racing 4x here as he has a miniscus that is cracked in several places. he is able to walk and ride on it, but thinks DH will be too harsh on it when he doesn't have any chance at the overall anyways. It has been this way since Bromont, but he didn't know until he went to get it looked at for swelling last week.
Off for course walking now, more updates later on.
