    Canadian DH Championships

The Canadian National Championships were held this past weekend at Mont. Ste Anne and Transcend Magazine team riders Emmanuel Daoust and James Jeannet were on hand for the competition.

After two and half days of practice under sunny and hot conditions, mother nature decided to throw a curve ball on Sunday and racers were greeted with torrential rains on race day. Over 40mm of rain fell in the Mte Ste Anne area during the day !

Bring out the " MUD " tires, which is what many racers decided on and then pray that you can stay on your bike for the 4 to 6 minute ride down one of the roughest courses in Canada. This year's course was essentially the same as the World Cup course except for a short 20 second high speed section at the very top that was left out.

Both Emmanuel and James were competing in the Junior Expert category and came away with some very nice results. Emmanuel got onto the podium in third place with a time of 4:34, James was two seconds behind with a 4:36 which placed him in 6th place.
Their times placed them in 19th and 24th position in the combined Senior Elite / Junior Expert standings allowing them to gain some valuable UCI points.

Both of them enjoyed their weekend and got some valuable riding time on a course they will be competing on again in two weeks when the Mt Ste. Anne World Cup event takes place.
