First T-shirt ride of the season!

So today was pretty much the first time it has been warm enough to wear a t-shirt comfortably outside here in Vancouver. Which is a comfort in itself because warm weather means melting snow... which means more trails to ride! The start of the season is like Christmas: fresh gear, fresh bikes, and everyone seems to be stoked to get outside and ride.

I journeyed over to the Sunshine Coast to enjoy my sunny Saturday riding with my favourite guys. Curtis, Kyle J, Norby, and Stubs all had new bikes to show off, and I had my new Commencal, so we were all stoked. We started the morning off by doing a couple of hot laps of the DH course, which was muddy but that's what makes it fun. Afterwards, we tore up this sweet trail called "cutties" where Curtis showed off his cutty skills, while I tried to copy with my own mini-roosts (not very impressive, but I'm working on it). Then we caught a ride up with some of the local old ripper guys: 11 bikes, 11 people, one truck. It was pretty funny. Stubs caught his new 31" bars on a tree in a tight singletrack section; he's now thinking of cutting them down a bit. After Stubs collected himself, we continued onto a trail the local Cap College boys fixed up. It was super pedally, but I had tons of fun riding side-lines.

After shuttling, we headed over to Gibsons to the re-vamped Sprockids Park. There is a sick new 6 pack, and a wall ride that looks fun to play on. They also gave the pump track a make-over, so that was mint. On the djs' Norby and Jameson were throwing down the 3's, Dylan had some pretty nice tucks, and Curtis was just loving his new bike; showing off some skills of his own.

The day ended with Curtis buying me Gelato like a good boyfriend, and us watching the sunset; cheesy I know, but a romantical finish to an awesome day of riding.

On Wednesday I leave for Sea Otter; I'm so excited to see everyone again and race my bikes!
