Schladming World Cup - DH qualifying story
SCHLADMING, Austria (transcendmagazine.com) -- Just got a text in that Sam Hill has qualified first with a time of 3:58.39, Gee Atherton in second with a 3:59 and Fabien Barel in 3rd.
For the women it was Tracy Moseley in first followed by Tracey Hannah and then Sabrina Jonnier in 3rd.
Jonnier figured she would just coast qualies. "I thought I would just cruise most of the track without pushing too hard, and see what happened...not real pleased with 3rd, but I've got more for the finals."
Hill says the course is getting completely beat to hell, huge holes and ruts now and believes it will be rougher for finals and probably wet. He talks about his qualifying run: " My run was pretty average, with a couple small mistakes, but checked some lines and ended up pretty good. I'm happy with my run. The track has just gotten a lot rougher...rougher than previous years, and keeps ya lookin for new smoother lines."
Qualifying is on-going, from fastest to slowest and with 216 men, it could take awhile to get through.
