Bromont Canada Cup - Friday Report

BROMONT, Canada (transcendmagazine.com) -- The skies opened up about 1 o'clock today (just in time for practice) and added a bit more moisture to the quagmire that Bromont has become after 2 weeks of solid rain.

The course is partly new and part of the old World Masters course. The new parts are a muddy disaster, with the fresh dirt getting torn to pieces and plastered to the riders, bikes and trees. As long as the rain keeps up, the course will be fast, albeit a bit slick. If the rain stops, everyone will be in for one hell of a ride when the mud starts to coat the rocks and roots (of which their are many) and turns to peanut butter.

Not many riders were on course today, as most chose to sit out the rain and stay warm and dry. Pendrel, Goss and Morland were out learning the course, but no one was hanging it out yet.

The upper section is fairly technical with a large, slippery steep chute to wide open, grassy chicanes. The middle section is mostly from the older Masters World's course along with a brand new switchback section that is already starting to get torn up. The end of the course is a LONG sprint across various ski runs and through quick 10 yard wooded sections.

Look for photos tomorrow if the rain lets up enough to get the gear out.

Devinci Daredevil's Geoff Pendrell - that was a white jersey 2 runs earlier.
