Sea Otter - Friday

MONTEREY, California (transcendmagazine.com) -- Sea Otter practices went off today in a swamp. The downhill course is a quagmire from top to bottom, with only the middle high speed section being decent. Lower areas and the jumps up top are slick and deep in mud. Reports comiung in from riders include lots of discussion of crashes sustained due to landing in extremely slick mud.

The 4x cross course is not only a soft and soupy, it is also almost completely flat. Think BMX course...doesn't Mountain Cross suggest the use, somehow, of a mountain? Rumours have it that the course was originally in the same spot as last year, but due to 3 weeks of rain it was slowly inching it's way down the hill towards the parking lot, thus the new venue. Only a few pros practiced today, and it wasn't pretty.

4x and Dh practice continue tomorrow, with pro 4x qualifying at 5pm, West Coast time. It should be interesting.
