OTTAWA, Canada (transcendmagazine.com) - Micayla Gatto, the Vancouver based Canadian Junior Downhill phenom, has won the Roger Sumner award as Canada's best newcomer to the cycling scene. Gatto won the junior women's downhill bronze medal at Worlds this past year in Livigno, Italy.
The Roger Sumner award is voted on by readers of Canadian Cyclist Magazine. It is named after the long time Canadian cycling coach and manager who died in 2000 after being struck by a car while riding his bike.
Micayla is the first downhiller to ever win a Canadian Cyclist award.
