As you probably already know Turner Honda rider and close friend Sven Martin had a bad crash while up in Whistler. Sven’s accident occurred while practicing to compete in the Crankworx festival. Sven broke his neck sustaining multiple fractures to the C3-C5 vertebra. Fortunately Sven had a successful surgery in Canada and is currently recuperating at home in Bend, OR. Sven should be ready for therapy, stretching, and strengthening in the next few months. He is expected to make a full recovery and if you know Sven he will have no problem riding again. Sven is one lucky guy!
Unfortunately, Sven did not have any medical insurance coverage up in Canada, and he is now facing some serious medical bills. As part of his recovery he is prohibited from excessive movement, and as a result is unable to work. To complicate matters, his wife Anka has also been unable to work while looking after him in these crucial early weeks of recovery.
Sven has been instrumental in organizing and hosting big benefits and fundraisers at his annual video premiere parties here in Southern California. He has raised money for trail advocacy groups as well as fellow racers in need. Through these types of events Sven raised over $2000 for Johnny Waddel after his injury.
We want to return the favor and do what we can to help Sven during these challenging times, and are organizing a bash at Hennessey’s in Dana Point, September 22nd. The raffle and auction proceeds will go toward paying Sven’s medical bills. As you know, these events are well attended and also receive a great deal of press coverage, so your company’s involvement will not go unnoticed.
Prior to the party we will also open up online bidding and raffle ticket sales, so that those who are to far away or unable to attend can still be involved.
Please let me know if you or your company is able to contribute in any way. We are looking for items to raffle or auction.
